Get informed! Get connected! Get involved!
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand,
and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14 - 16 NKJV
On June 5th, St. Mary launched a secure, private online community where her parishioners can come together to care for one another, build relationships, stay informed, and out of this, find new ways to do ministry together so that we may become that light on the hill.
This new community is called The City and it is a collection of secure, web-based modules that keep parishioners and clergy connected to one another. Think of it as a giant, electronic bulleting board of information! Using just one log in, our parish can now organize ministry groups and calendars, sign up for Fellowship Hour and other events, receive real time notifications from the church usch as prayers and closings, as well as download a phone app to carry The City with you wherever you go!
To logon (if you have an account), click HERE. If you do not have an account, check out what is happening on The Plaza HERE.
If you don't have a City account, but are a parishioner of St. Mary (or involved in our community on a regular basis), come and join us! Request an invite by contacting Preoteasa Stephanie Subu,
Welcome to St. Mary Orthodox Church
"Today the faithful celebrate the feast with joy / illumined by your coming, O Mother of God. / Beholding your pure image we fervently cry to you; / Encompass us beneath the precious veil of your protection; / Deliver us from every form of evil by entreating Christ, / your Son and our God that He may save our souls.”
Consecrated in 1988, Protection of the Holy Mother of God Orthodox Church (St. Mary), is a community of the Orthodox Church in America, an English-language parish of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, that meets in Falls Church, VA. Our congregation is a mix of cradle, convert, and "re-vert" worshippers, coming from all different walks of life and backgrounds. In other words, we are a great American "melting pot" of Orthodoxy in the heart of the Nation's Capital!
To share the light and the joy of Christian Orthodoxy in Northern Virginia, to educate the faithful and newcomers in the Faith and its teachings and traditions, making them accessible to all, and to practice hospitality and community building in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
"Celebrating over 25 Years of Truth, Tradition and Hospitality in Northern Virginia"
We invite you to join Rev. Father David Subu, Protodeacon Peter Danilchick, Deacon Nicholas Dujmovic and our entire community to share the fullness of faith with our friends and neighbors. Please join us for worship and fellowship. If you know someone who may be seeking an English-Service focused Orthodox community, please tell him or her about us!
